Nicholas Duffee
Associate
Nicholas Duffee is an associate in Axinn’s Litigation group. His practice focuses on complex litigation. Currently, he is on the team representing Alvogen in the multibillion dollar National Prescription Opiate multidistrict litigation and in related proceedings across the country, and the team representing Aetna in an appeal before the Federal Circuit. He has regularly advised clients on their potential liability exposure in contract disputes and on their own potential causes of action. Nicholas also has an active pro bono practice representing indigent litigants in federal court and advising nonprofits on copyright issues.

While in law school, Nicholas was an editor of the Georgetown Journal of Law and Public Policy, a Student Fellow at the Georgetown Center for the Constitution, a research assistant for the Annual Review of Criminal Procedure, and an intern for the Honorable Thomas Hardiman on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Nicholas holds a BA in Political Science from The University of Chicago.
Experience
- Representing Alvogen in a sprawling multidistrict litigation (MDL) alleging participation in an industrywide conspiracy to raise prices of generic drugs.
- Representing Google in various investigations of its business practices in the United States and other jurisdictions.
- Defended global law firm in connection with malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty claims arising from its defense of the rapper 50 Cent in rights of publicity dispute.
- Represented plaintiff in a breach of contract and fraud litigation involving a $20 million asset acquisition. The court denied defendants’ motion for summary judgment on both the breach of contract and fraud claims, allowing the case to proceed to trial, while granting plaintiff’s motion for summary judgment dismissing the defendants’ counterclaims.
